If you have not been diagnosed by a doctor as to what ED you have please can you self diagnose yourself here before posting an introduction.
PLEASE DIAGNOSE YOURSELF PROPERLY
Anorexia - Must have a BMI of 17.4, no EXCEPTIONS! No binge/purge episodes, laxative abuse to compensate with food or caloric intake or compulsive exercise to compensate weight gain. You do not HAVE to lose your period. Many anorexics still get their period, some do not.
Anorexia with Bulimic Tendencies - A BMI of 17.4 combined with binge and purge episodes LESS THAN 3 times a week, or combined with laxative abuse, or combined with over exercise. Or combined with all three. This is also known as the Purging Anorexic. You do not HAVE to lose your period. Many anorexics still get their period, some do not.
Bulimia - Binge and Purge episodes 3 or more times a week. BMI MUST BE HIGHER THAN 17.4. Most Bulimics are of NORMAL - OVERWEIGHT. There are some exceptions depending on the person. Some Bulimics are even considered UNDERWEIGHT, but a BMI of 17.4 is in the Anorexic category. (See Anorexia with Bulimia tendencies).
Bulimia with Anorexic Tendencies - Binge and Purge episodes 3 or more times a week. Periods of fasting to compensate food or caloric intake, laxative abuse, and overexercising. Can be a combination of all three compensation behaviors. BMI cannot be 17.4. This is known has the Starving Bulimic or Exercise Bulimia.
EDNOS - Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. You almost meet the criteria of having Anorexia (1 & 2) or Bulimia (1 & 2), but your BMI is over 17.4 for anorexia. You binge and purge LESS than 3 times a week.
Purging Disorder - With purging disorder there are no binges. You throw up any meal you eat (a normal meal can be 500 calories). This is not a diagnosable eating disorder. But it still is an eating disorder.
No matter what eating disorder you have, it is still an eating disorder, and you can still die from your eating disorder.
